Grid@Mons

Welcome to Grid@Mons !

Grid@Mons is a series of annual conferences that are taking place at Mons, Belgium and, devoted to large-scale distributed systems in general and, grid computing in particular.

Grid computing can be defined as a distributed computing paradigm that targets effective use of networked computing resources (processing power, storage systems, software, equipments, and people) from different organizations, thereby enabling: (1) cost-effective resource sharing at a large-scale, (2) solving problems that cannot be tackled without enormous amount of computing resources. Achieving this goal involves addressing the challenging issues related to scalability, security, fault-tolerance, self-organization to name a few.

The Grid@Mons initiative aims at promoting collaboration in research among academic institutions, government organizations, and business enterprises that are concerned with the design, the implementation and the deployment of large-scale distributed systems in general and, grids in particular.

The Grid@Mons program includes tutorials, technical presentations, industrial presentations, posters and demonstrations.
